Resi-Talk's Resident of the Week

Resi-Talk's Resident of The Week

10/14/2012

Faith Aljon
Marketing Executive for Avenue Magazine

For the few readers I currently I have I apologize for my lengthy delay of posts.   I am starting again and I plan to keep this going for you.   One of the new things I will be doing on this blog is posting a "Resident of the week." So, to start this off I have chosen to write about one of my inspirations and good friends, Faith Aljon.

Three and a half years ago a young entrepreneur joined the virtual world of Second Life: Her name was Faith Aljon.  Upon entering the world of Second Life: Faith, like pretty much all of us, found it somewhat difficult to control the game; However, the realization that in this virtual world the possibilities are endless kept her with going and for that reason she is still here today.

After learning the basics; Faith, started to actually do something with her identity in the new found virtual world so she started her work resume by becoming a host for a club called "The Bank."  "It was so much fun and I met lots of people!" says Faith.   After a while Faith's place of business closed down and she was left not knowing where to turn.  So she decided to open a club of her own.   The idea of owning a club was definitely familiar to Faith because she had a successful real life in entertainment at the time.  The new business helped with building Faith's Second Life network.

I've tried many things in Second Life and they all tie back to my
real life passions...media, art and technology. - Faith Aljon

Today if you were looking for Faith you could find her at Avenue (A quality magazine and modeling business in Second Life) where she is the Marketing Executive.

Faith's hobbies in Second Life include: photography, modeling, business, and of course shopping!  Her favorite stores are Maitreya, ColdLogic, and LD Major by Vikeejeah Xevion.

Faith's favorite Second Life memories were those spent with her LP family.

The Resident of the week is someone who is recognized for any reason. If you know someone you'd like to suggest as the "Resident of the Week" please send me a Note Card via Second Life. My name is Gabriella Deezul and I look forward to hearing from you!

The Dramatiques

If you're into art, music, dancing, acting, or any other form of art you are going to LOVE today's blog.

                                                THE DRAMATIQUES

Who are they?  What do they do?  Why is their name in all capital letters?    Well my friends and followers I am going to tell you right now the answer to all of these questions as well as give you some more information on them.

The first thing I'm gonna do is answer two of the questions I asked, they were, Who are the Dramatiques?  What do they do?   The Dramatiques are basically a large dance crew growing in popularity throughout Second Life.  By having their audience involved in their performances.  The Dramatiques are sure to get a standing ovation.    All though I classified The Dramatiques as a dance crew they aren't your normal dance crew.    The costumes, sets, and dancers are all top of the line and pleasing to the eye.

I am now going to tell you about The Dramatiques' performances.  The Dramatiques have three ticket options as listed on their blog (www.thedramatiques.blogspot.com).  They have guest option which is free, however, your avatar rendering cost cannot be in the red to use this option.  They also have a ticket holder option which is 300 L$ per performance you attend with this option the avatar rendering cost does effect you being able to attend and finally they have the VIP option for which you must keep up a 6000 L$ Monthly donation,  with this option you will receive a seat in the VIP section, a personal hostess, direct teleport to the theater, and champaigne.   As a VIP you also have the ability to bring up to 4 guests with you who also receive the VIP treatment.

To finish off this blog I will tell you about some of the upcoming events for The Dramatiques.    In 2012 the ships are sailing in, and who's aboard them?? Arrr it be The Dramatiques, but instead of stealing your treasure, they will just give you an amazing show on your own ship.  I can see this show being AMAZING and I for one cannot wait to see it.  Let's talk about events happening sooner though,
Within the next 2 month's there will be two events benefiting The Dramatiques,  there will be a Showcase and a Cocktail Party (The dates of these events are still being discussed,  Join the group "Dramatiques Fans" for updates.  I will also post it on here)

That is all I have for today!  Thanks for reading!

Double Double Toil and Trouble and All that Jazz

Witches, Zombies, and Skeletons  I am excited to tell you that today I will be blogging about Octoberville my favorite Halloween Sim in all of Second Life!!  What makes Octoberville so different from any other Halloween sim you ask?  Well I'm here to tell you!   So take your seats! (Just don't sit on the ghosts!)

Imagine this:  You reach the landing pad and hear bats flying over head and amazing music playing in the distance.  As you walk towards the town ahead of you there are spiders and rats crawling around your feet and a sudden chill runs through your spine.  Upon moving forward you see many people, zombies, and other spooky creatures all with one goal in mind, to get their names on the Octoberville Wall of Fame.  Okay, you can stop imagining now!  Now that you have a glimpse of the ambiance of  the place I will continue.

Octoberville is not just a sim to hang out at,  it is also a scavenger hunt, and once you complete all the tasks for it you get your name on the Octoberville Wall of Fame!   Although this cannot be done quickly it is totally worth it!!   In Octoberville there is always a place to explore,  Whether it be the large haunted house,  or pumpkin town you will not leave disappointed!

If you are a photographer looking for an interesting place to take pictures, this is the place with so many photo-ops it is a photographer's paradise!

Last but certainly not least is the magnificent CrowBar!  If you are looking for a fun place to chill and enjoy a good costume competition than come to the CrowBar at 6 PM SLT!  The staff is amazing, very friendly, and welcoming!

Octoberville is a wonderfully designed and fun sim for everyone!   So what are you waiting for?  Get on your broom and fly there now!  I hope to see you there!

I see you! PikaBoo!

Snow Wolfhunter (Creator and Owner of Pikaboo) wearing "Moon" Glitter Dress
                                                                        Price: L$99

When looking for a good place to buy nice clothing it can be quite difficult at times, which is the reason why I was ecstatic when I found PikaBoo!   I was just as excited when I got to interview the owner of the wonderful clothing for sale there!

Snow Wolfhunter, Obviously puts a lot of hard work and dedication into her wonderful creations!  But, I was curious as to which of the outfits she's made is she most proud of.  She said that the creation she is most proud of is the one she is currently working on,  it doesn't have a name yet, but I got the chance to see the work in progress and it looks WONDERFUL!

I then asked, "How long did it take you to learn to make clothes on Second Life?"  She responded, "Well, quite some time, till I learned to use templates and sculpted items, about last two months I have been selling my items, but all in all - I'm still learning"

A favorite question for me to ask designer would have to be "What are some of your personal favorite places to shop?"   I was surprised to find that Snow and I have very similar taste in the places we shop!  She told me her favorite stores are "GAWK, Truth, and Vulo"

Snow started designing clothing as something to do for fun, and she has began to get really good at it!  I think the clothing at PikaBoo expresses individuality and flair!

I just want to thank Snow Wolfhunter (The owner of PikaBoo) for taking the time to let me interview her,  I also wish her the best with her endeavours and look forward to seeing many more marvelous creations!

Something Magical!

Today I had an awesome opportunity to interview Nino Heartsdale about "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It was inspired by the fairies in Shakespeare's play! This show promises to be one of the best of it's kind.  Nino, wants it to be a show like no other bringing back some models such as:  Krystanna Wycliffe and Nino Heartsdale herself!

Nino told us she explored the concepts of producing something magical and enchanting.  By, having the setting be a forest and the models be fairy using fairy animations for walks and poses.

The show will be held in Mantova and Abruzzo sims (two sims to reduce lag) and will be sponsored by Lady Thera on Friday, March 25th at 1:30 pm SLT.

Designers featured in the show are:  GizzA Creations, AlaFolie, Black Lace, MEB,  Lady Thera, Jewellery by Jake, and wings by Material Squirrel.

After the show there will be a party where DJ Gregster Kidd will be spinning the tunes!

Nino Heartsdale hopes to see you at the show so you can experience something out of the ordinary and magical!

(Below I have added a video from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream!" Along with some pictures of the Fairy's from the play. Thanks for Reading!!!)

Thanks for reading and have an Enchanted Second Life!

GAWK!

It is always my privilege to write about any designer or person from Second Life.  But today's post is especially important to me because it's about my new favorite store "Gawk!"

The thing that makes Gawk so special to me is the fact that you can buy the outfits pieces separately or by color.  With the variety of style this store has to offer you can have hundreds of different outfits made just from mixing and matching your clothing.  It also has pieces that can go with your other clothing designers clothes for instance, I LOVE the store Nyte'N'Day,  and the outfit "Genuflect" Is probably my favorite from there (I have it in white) I like to wear my white or black arm warmers with my genuflect outfit!

My favorite piece from Gawk, is the striped Cashmere sweater in white.  Think the sweater looks especially nice while wearing the grey low waist Jeans (Grunge)

I have a lot of respect for the time and effort clothing designers put forth into working on their clothing.  I can tell Mell McMahon takes a lot of time on her clothing and works very hard to make her clothing look spectacular!

To find Gawk's store go to http://www.slmarketplace.com/ and type in Gawk!  I hope everyone finds something to buy it's a great store and there is a lot of work put into the clothing!!!  Thanks for reading!
