GAWK!

It is always my privilege to write about any designer or person from Second Life.  But today's post is especially important to me because it's about my new favorite store "Gawk!"

The thing that makes Gawk so special to me is the fact that you can buy the outfits pieces separately or by color.  With the variety of style this store has to offer you can have hundreds of different outfits made just from mixing and matching your clothing.  It also has pieces that can go with your other clothing designers clothes for instance, I LOVE the store Nyte'N'Day,  and the outfit "Genuflect" Is probably my favorite from there (I have it in white) I like to wear my white or black arm warmers with my genuflect outfit!

My favorite piece from Gawk, is the striped Cashmere sweater in white.  Think the sweater looks especially nice while wearing the grey low waist Jeans (Grunge)

I have a lot of respect for the time and effort clothing designers put forth into working on their clothing.  I can tell Mell McMahon takes a lot of time on her clothing and works very hard to make her clothing look spectacular!

To find Gawk's store go to http://www.slmarketplace.com/ and type in Gawk!  I hope everyone finds something to buy it's a great store and there is a lot of work put into the clothing!!!  Thanks for reading!

FAQ's for SL Models

What is Second Life Modeling and what is it like being a Second Life model?   These are both questions that a lot of Second Life models get and I'm here to answer them for you.

Modeling is not just a profession on Second Life, but also a hobby and way of life. (or should I say "Second Life"?)   Okay, I know a lot of you are asking yourselves what is it that makes modeling in a virtual world so special.. Well imagine this:  You're walking through a brand new store you've never been to before and you see a lot of clothing but they are just hanging on a clothing rack, there's no pictures on the wall or anything making it impossible to imagine what the clothing looks like on the actual avatar.  How do you know what it will look like on you? And what if it's about 350 lindens for a shirt?  So, you are unsure if you want to buy this particular shirt when suddenly another person comes into the store and buys the same shirt you were just looking at.  Now that you can see what the shirt looks like on another avatar you know you want to buy it,  Wouldn't it have been a lot easier if the designer used a picture of a model wearing that shirt?.  The owner of that store was probably letting a lot of sales slip by simply because they didn't have any way of showing off their product creatively.  This is where the job of "Print Modeling" comes into play.  Print modeling is any modeling that is used for a sign or picture in which the model is not actually there but their picture is.

Being a Second Life model is a lot of fun but it also takes a lot of dedication dealing with lag during a runway show is definitely something that makes it hard to stick with, that and the amount of money spent to make your avatar a work of art, because as a model you ARE a blank canvas!  You also need to take constructive criticism well because if a designer or photographer has a problem with the way you look modeling their clothes they can and will tell you, meaning you'll have to change whatever it is they don't like for that particular advertisement.   So, modeling is a lot of work but it is also benefits you're Second Life quite greatly.  You meet a lot of people through modeling and make a lot of friends making modeling very enjoyable.

I'm going to wrap up this post by telling you how to become a Second Life model.   The best way to train yourself to be a model is to talk to a friend about modeling and join a modeling academy.  Some of the best modeling academy's are listed below.  Good Luck with your modeling endeavours!

What I think are the top modeling academy's of Second Life:

Delinda Dyrssen, The True Beauty of Second Life

Today's blog is quite special to me and to many other residents of Second Life.... In todays blog we will honor a true Second Life beauty inside and out Delinda Dyrssen.

Delinda was a beautiful person full of interests and hobbies.  Her Favorite Animals were horses, she loved sailing, and she was a producer for many shows on SLTV including "Tonight Live with Pailsey Beebe"  yet she always had time for others and was always there to help.

Delinda had a beautiful Memorial Service in Second Life full of people who loved and cared for her.

Delinda was loved by everyone.  In fact I can not think of a single person who disliked her and I know I speak for the rest of her family and Friends when I say, "I will miss your sense of humor, the fact that you were always there for me, your friendliness and kindness, but most of all Delinda, I will miss seeing you on Second Life, but I know you are in a better place now and I'm glad that you will now feel no pain or sorrow.

Today's post was dedicated to a beautiful woman with a huge heart, Delinda Dyrssen, You will be missed..

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be.  So he wrapped his arms around you and whispered, "Come to me." with Tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, but although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay.  A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Interview with Miss. Virtual World 2011 Finalist: "Glitter Bolissima"

Today Resi-Talk took a very special chance to take the time out and interview one of this year's Miss Virtual World Finalists "Glitter Bolissima."

The Miss Virtual World Pageant is one of Second Life's biggest modeling pageants women from all over the Second Life grid send in their picture each month to be accepted as a semi-finalist than all the semi-finalists do a "walk off" to see who gets accepted as a finalist this goes on a few months during the summer.  Once all the finalists are picked is when they begin the fun!  This year they had a Glam Halloween show, and they just finished a Lingerie show.  The Final show is this Saturday on the 18th of December 2010.

We asked Glitter, what the first thing that went through her head was when she got accepted to be in the pageant she gave us this, "My first thought when I was accepted into MVW was disbelief.  Then a few seconds later was total excitement, I was really surprised!"

We than asked her if she could tell us about the other modeling contests she's been in on Second Life and how they compare to the Miss. Virtual World Pageant.  Glitter answered "My first pageant was the Miss SL International in 2009, it is a little similar as far as semi finals goes.  We had a walk off and they chose the finalists, But after that we went straight to the finale.  It was Mr and Ms SL International, so we had men competing too, Tesan Lane won and I won.  That was my first taste.  After that I was in the Miss Rezz Pageant, and again, it was about the same, but this one lasted a lot longer.  We had over a month of walk offs it was challenging and we were actually shown our scores after each walk off. I only scored first place in the evening gown walk off.  But somehow I did manage to win the Miss Rezz also.  After that I said to myself I wont enter another pageant again because it really is hard, but MVW came around, and well I had to at least try and I'm very glad I did. It is challenging but very rewarding too.  I made a lot of new friends in each pageant Ive been in."

Our final question for Glitter was where is your favorite place to shop?  She replied, "My favorite place to shop is Tres Beau.  Kimmera is just the most amazing designer and friend."

We at Resi-Talk would like to thank you for taking the time to talk with us! We also wish you the best with your modeling endeavours and we can't wait to see you on Metaverse TV this Saturday, the 18th of December 2010!  When Miss Virtual World 2011 will be crowned!

How is a Raven like a writing desk?

Hey Everyone, It's Gabby Deezul from Resi-Talk and I'm here to tell you that I have our first article about a place, and what a wonderful place it is.

The Place is called Dysphoria and it's Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" Themed. Now, I have been to many Alice in Wonderland Sims, Rides, and all that jazz, but this one really struck my fancy.  Why this place and not the others you may be asking yourself?   Well let me answer your question with a question.  "Why is a Raven like a writing desk?" (Sorry I had to do it) Seriously though, this place is absolutely amazing.  Not only is it well decorated, but it also has other players wandering around acting out everything.  I mean, I met Alice, the Cheshire Cat, and the caterpillar that's smoking hookah!!

Upon entering the sim you are at Alice's house, with a giant rabbit and a rabbit hole!! (We all know where that leads to!!)  Wonderland!!! So after you go Down, down the rabbit hole you find yourself in a room with a tiny door and a table with a piece of cake under it that reads: "Eat me," now I'm all for the ten second rule but I'm almost certain that cake had been on the ground longer than ten seconds but who cares?? I mean it's Second Life right?

The sim is full of interactive things that really make this place stand out, for example, when you eat the cake the chat reads something along the lines of "You feel your hands starting to get bigger, than your feet Etc. Etc." It's really cool!

The creator and owner of this sim is named Muse Muliaina.  She is a lovely lady with a very creative mind, as shown through her work on this particular sim.

In Conclusion, if you're looking for a place to hang out or role play with friends just go to Dysphoria!  It's just down the rabbit hole, and don't forget to go to the tea party!  It's up the hill on the right past the hookah smoking caterpillar! But don't stay too long or you might just get a little kooky, or should I say MAD!  Come now!! We're waiting!!!!!

Our First interview "Divine Nitely"

Hello All, and thank you for reading "Resi-Talk!"  Now, you are probably wondering what "Resi-Talk" is, Well I'm here to tell you, Resi-Talk is a blog that deals strictly with the events and people of Second Life!

So today we're going to start with a person and that person is, the one and only, Divine Nitely.  Divine is one of Second Life's best shape makers and award winning photographers, so we are honored that Divine took the time to let us interview her.

The first question we asked Miss. Nitely was "How long have you been taking pictures?" Divine told us this "As soon as I discovered snapshot I started taking photos. It took me a a bit though to discover all the tools in SL. I was hooked from the beginning on photos."

We than asked Divine if she could tell us about her first picture she took as a professional, if she could remember it as we were sure she had taken hundreds.  She told us this, "Oh the first Photo, yeah there have been thousands actually.  Well I remember when I was first learning tools and starting to make things in SL, I hadn't really teleported around  much and stayed busy on a small platform on my 512 little parcel.  I was making something and the selection stream of lights was on and I had panned around to get a better look at what I was doing. It looked really kind of magical, like a magician spinning something with the night sky and the glowing sparkling lights. So I tried to take a photo of it. When started playing with all the snapshot options I got totally side-tracked from my other things I was working on and started taking photos"

The final question we asked her was "What is your favorite subject to take pictures of?"  She gave us this "I love taking portraits. Catching peoples eyes and making the avatars as real as possible. I love visiting with people and chatting when they come to get a photo taken. No close 2nd for me for a subject. The beautiful gowns and clothing props or landscapes are all about making them look better and fit in the surroundings."

Divine is indeed a jack of all trades, she not only is a photographer, but a shape designer, graphic designer, writer, and clothing maker.  She is the owner of Hot couture, FOCUS Image Make Overs, and FOCUS by Design; Fashion & Photography.  She is also on the staff for BOSL Magazine.

In conclusion we had a wonderful time interviewing Miss. Divine Nitely and look forward to interviewing more Second Life Residents and giving you all the latest Info on the events and happenings in Second Life!
